A puja or seva "in your name" means that your name is mentioned in the sankalp, the resolve taken at the start of a puja. It lets devotees who cannot be present take part from a distance.
What is a sankalp?
Sankalp is a short statement made at the start of a puja. The priest says who the puja is for, the purpose and, traditionally, the gotra of the family. This is why we ask for your name, gotra and wish when you book.
What is gotra?
Gotra is the traditional family lineage that is named in Hindu rituals. If you do not know your gotra, many families use "Kashyap"; you may also ask an elder in your family.
How booking works
- Choose a seva and enter the name of the person the puja is for, their gotra and your wish.
- Place the order online and keep your order number.
- After the seva, photos or a video are shared on your order tracking page.
Tips
- Spell names clearly; you can book for family members too.
- Mention the purpose, for example health, family well-being, a new beginning or gratitude.
- The timing of the seva follows the temple's schedule.
